Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala Finale airs tonight, August 23 2013, after only two months since its pilot episode last June. A lot of televiewers feel that it is such a waste to be ending the series too soon, since it is doing very well on the TV ratings. As of last week, Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala occupies the Top 5 on Kantar Media/TNS' Top 20 overall list covering both urban and rural areas, with 26.0% viewership against rival My Husband’s Lover (GMA 7) with only 17.3%. It's a whopping 9% lead, which leaves TV aficionados puzzled as to why such a successful show would choose to cut its existence short.
Well, lead star Judy Ann Santos, who portrays the character of Anessa, takes all the blame for this. The network liked to give way to incoming Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla starrer, Got To Believe, by proposing to move Judy Ann's teleserye to a later time slot. The teleserye queen did not agree so she suggested to just cut the teleserye short instead of moving its time slot. To show respect to one of their prized talents, they listened to her and gave in to her "demand."
In one of her interviews, she admitted that the decision was kind of selfish on her part. I definitely agree. Moreover, I also think it's her ego that prevailed. Please don't get me wrong. I have very high respect for Ms. Judy Ann Santos and I truly admire her performance in Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala. That is why, I am one of those who is saddened by the show's quick demise. I would have preferred to watch it at a later time than see it go so soon. I would have also admired Ms. Santos more if she was humble enough to obey the network just like what other stars like her have done (such as what happened to Kris Aquino, Robin Padilla and Anne Curtis' Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw.)
Anyways, the Finale is expected to be an explosive one. We see Alexis (KC Concepcion) realizing how hateful Eros (Sam Milby) is because in spite of her love for him and what she had done and what she is still willing to do for him, he still loves Anessa more, and even called her, only a "panakip-butas" (a substitute). Because of this, her anger will build up and push her to the point of pulling the trigger. The preview is certainly a cliffhanger. Will it be another tragic ending? Or will the show's advocacy (of women's rights) be more emphasized?
Don't miss this exciting grand finale!
