"CALL CENTER GIRL" gives us a chance to see Pokwang doing her real forte, which is, comedy. For her past two biggest movies under Star Cinema (A Mother's Story and The Healing), she had been showcasing her dramatic (and horror) skills, with which she is just as effective. This time, Pokwang, the comedian we have all loved, is back, with a vengeance, as the Call Center Girl! Also in the movie are Enchong Dee, Jessy Mendiola, Ejay Falcon, K Brosas, John Lapus, Chokoleit, Dianne Medina and Aaron Villaflor. Call Center Girl, directed by Don Cuaresma, and written by Kriz Garmen, is scheduled to be shown in Philippine Cinemas on November 27, 2013.

Call Center Girl takes us to the intriguing world of call center agents. With the Philippines being the top call center Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) destination in the world, and with more than 500,000 people (or 65 percent of the total BPO workforce as of the 1st quarter of 2013) employed in Call Centers, plus thousands of job hunters aspiring to work in the said industry, a lot of Filipinos can certainly relate to this movie. PLOT/SYNOPSIS

CALL CENTER GIRL is a story about Teresa "Terry" Manlapat (Pokwang), an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who had been away from her family for 13 years, to help support their needs by working in a cruise ship. She comes back, only to find out that her husband just passed away. She is also faced with the problem of reuniting with her children, who had been terribly affected by the absence of a mother for many years.

To re-establish her life in the Philippines, she looks for work and lands a job in a call center, which happens to be where her youngest daughter Regina (Jessy Mendiola) also works at. She sees this as a good opportunity for her to get close again to Regina, who is not too happy to see her again, thinking that she (Terry) had abandoned them during her growing years when she needed a mother.

As they daily face the challenges and stress of call center life, and get to meet people from diverse backgrounds, Terry and Reg also learn from the lives of others, and eventually the true value of family.

CALL CENTER GIRL TRIVIA: Original Cast

Did you know that the original lead star who was supposed to portray Pokwang's role was Sharon Cuneta? Her co-stars in the movie would have been Gerald Anderson, Maja Salvador and Enrique Gil. They were set to start filming in October of 2011, but the project was shelved when the megastar transferred to TV5 the following month.
