Movie Info: WHEN THE LOVE IS GONE Starring Cristine Reyes & Gabby Concepcion

"WHEN THE LOVE IS GONE" is a remake of the Danny Zialcita classic but controversial hit movie in 1983 titled "Nagalit ang Buwan sa Haba ng Gabi." It is becoming Viva's (the producer of the movie) style to do a remake of an old Filipino film, but giving it another title, just like what they did with the 2011 blockbuster movie "No Other Woman," which was a remake of "Langis at Tubig." Anyway, WHEN THE LOVE IS GONE is being dubbed by Viva as the grandest drama movie event of 2013, and is also its 32nd anniversary offering.

The movie features a powerhouse cast that includes Gabby Concepcion, Cristine Reyes, Alice Dixon, Jake Cuenca and Andi Eigenmann, with the special participation of Ms Dina Bonnevie, and introducing Anton Revilla. WHEN THE LOVE IS GONE, directed by Andoy Ranay, and written by Keiko Aquino, is scheduled to be shown in Philippine Cinemas on November 27, 2013.

Viva describes When The Love Is Gone as a "gripping, moving story of love lost, love gained, love betrayed, and love unbound." Producing movies that have infidelity as its theme, is also becoming a yearly tradition of Viva, usually shown during the last quarter of the year. They have, so far, been successful at the box office with this kind of movies, so we are somehow expecting the same with When The Love Is Gone. Based on netizens' feedback, especially when the trailer of the movie came out (which now has almost 2 million views on Youtube), we can already predict that it will give a very positive outcome once it is shown.

The story of WHEN THE LOVE IS GONE revolves around a woman (Cristine Reyes) and an older man (Gabby Concepcion) who meet serendipitously during a stormy time in their individual lives – she after discovering that her husband (Jake Cuenca) is gay, and he, after realizing how far apart he and his wife (Alice Dixson) have drifted from each other. They instantly fall in love with each other and not long after, decide to leave their spouses to live together.

Things are not as easy for the man because he has a teen-aged daughter (Andi Eigenmann). Because he loves his daughter so much, he agrees to his wife’s proposal to keep their separation a secret. And so he divides his time between his family and his mistress. But what the couple doesn’t know is that their smart and feisty daughter has gotten wind of the deceit very early on. And she revels against it by getting a boyfriend.

Eventually, the sticky situation catches up with the man and it leads him to a new realization. But just when he is ready to go back to his family, with his mistress’s acceptance and consent, the mistress’s bitter and vengeful husband unleashes his explosive anger on them. (Source: Viva Films)

A Surprise Twist at the Ending
The movie has a big revelation in the end that is sure to surprise audiences and get them talking long after they have left the cinemas. - Viva

Theme Song and Official Soundtrack (OST)
The theme song of the movie is also titled When The Love Is Gone. It is performed by Nina. As of this writing, the official music video is not yet available. But you can check out Jason Farol's version here, together with the lyrics of the song.

As we now know, the movie is based on the classic film, Nagalit ang Buwan Sa Haba Ng Gabi. Although I have no idea about this 1983 obra of the late director Danny Zialcita, I have gathered that the original cast boasted of film industry legends Eddie Garcia (his role is now portrayed by Jake Cuenca), Dindo Fernando (Gabby's role), Laurice Guillen (Alice Dixon's role), Gloria Diaz (Cristine's role) and Janice de Belen (Andi's role).

Here is a brief comparison of both films to give us an idea of how the movie was developed and adapted into contemporary setting:

Producers: Wenn Deramas, Vicente Del Rosario III, Veronique Corpus, Amrit Punjabi, Vic Del Rosario Jr. and Raam Punjabi
