Study on the technique of multiple attenuation and its industrial application in seismic data processing for oil exploration (Tianyue Hu)


Research Institute of Theoretical and Applied Geophysics, Peking University has developed a series of techniques about multiple attenuation methods including adaptive beamforming, inverse series, constructing virtual events and surface related multiple for oil exploration seismic data processing. Over 10 papers have been published on the major international and domestic journals in the field of exploration geophysics including The Leading Edge, Geophysical Prospecting, Applied Geophysics and Chinese Journal of Geophysics. Face to the key challenge of multiples in seismic data for industry and based on the theory of generalized sidelobes canceler, adaptive beamforming technique has been developed by using static power weighting beamformer to adjust the constrains in beamforming design to meet the trade-off between multiple attenuation and primaries protection for the purpose of overcoming the limitation of low signal to noise ratio data. The techniques of adaptive beamforming multiple attenuation has been widely implemented in seismic data processing system and finished to process real seismic data for over 4000 square kilometers in the oil fields at Tarim, Daqing, Liaohe and Dagang and BGP Internal of China National Petroleum Corporation, Research Center of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Sinopec Geophysical Research Institute, and Qingdao Research Institute of Marine Geology of China Geological Survey. The above related research achievements have received two Second Prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award of China and two authorized national invention patent of China.
